Services

Just as it’s essential to make in-home safety modifications for children, it’s essential to make preventative in-home safety modifications for older adults and seniors. All too often safety is overlooked until it’s too late – when accident, injury, illness, or death has occurred.

Preventative home modifications not only eliminate potential hazards and prevent falls, the number one cause of injury deaths in older adults and seniors, according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), they make life easier. And who doesn't want that for themselves, parents or loved ones?

Also, it is important for older adults and seniors to live in a vibrant, aesthetically pleasing environment that is uplifting and visually stimulating.

55+ TLC™ Interior Design provides the services that enable older adults to live safely and beautifully. With specialized senior living interior design and expertise in accessibility, safety, Aging-in-Place, and universal design, our focus is on creating living spaces that sustain independence for as long as possible, make life easier, as well as beautiful, home-like, and comfortable.

  • Downsizing and Relocating – It’s a big investment. Be sure that your new home is well-suited for sustainable living at home, as long as possible.

We’ll do an assessment of the house(s) you’re seriously considering buying. We look at architectural, functional and aesthetic characteristics and share our findings and recommendation. You’ll have peace of mind knowing that you are investing in the “right” home for your longevity, safety, and independence.

  • Sustainable Living at Home/Aging-in-Place – Planning ahead, being proactive and making preventative in-home safety modifications will save you time and money as well as eliminate potential hazards for you and your loved ones. Too often, people wait until an emergency arises, then it’s difficult and more costly to have essential home modifications made.

    • Consultation – We’ll do an assessment of your house, looking at architectural, functional and aesthetic characteristics and provide recommendations for home modifications.
    • Design – Based on our assessment findings we will create a comprehensive design plan and implement home modifications to make life easier and provide optimal sustainable living at home.
  • Senior Transitioning – Senior living and retirement communities today are well-designed by professionals to accommodate the special needs of older adults and seniors. However, the independent living and assisted living apartments are left up to the residents. That means that it’s your responsibility to ensure that it is designed and furnished for safety, functionality and comfort.

All too often, family members try to do it themselves or simply hire movers or organizers to move, arrange furniture and set up the apartment. However well-intentioned, it could be hazardous because they are not trained in senior living interior design or aging-in-place. Because your loved one deserves the best, it is highly advisable to hire a specially trained senior living interior designer.

We’ll create a safe, functional, beautiful space that feels like home. We’ll help determine which furniture to move and what to purchase new, purchase new furniture and furnishings, as well as place the furniture, hang window treatment and wall art, and place accessories.

  • Home Staging/Preparing Your Home to Sell – The best way to sell a house quickly and get the best return on your investment is to have it staged by a professional home stager.

Our award-winning home staging expertise helps sell homes faster and for top dollar. We help buyers see themselves living in the home.

Boomer Prepping

Your nest is empty (or getting closer), retirement is on the radar, you know you want to live independently at home. Whether you want to downsize to a smaller space or stay put, it’s wise and extremely beneficial to have your space ready to accommodate natural occurring physical changes that are inevitably on their way. Modifying your home now vs. later will afford you a better quality of life, be far less of an imposition and inconvenience, and be less costly than waiting until there’s an urgent need.

Much like expecting a baby where you need to childproof the house and paint and furnish the baby’s room before the little one arrives, your house needs to be prepared for Aging-in-Place before your needs arise so that it’s ready for you to live there safely, for as long as possible, and to enjoy your later years.

With expertise in senior living interior design and aging-in-place, 55+ Plus TLC™ Interior Design offers consultations to 1) help you select the best-suited house for aging-in-place or 2) to provide recommendations to modify and prepare your existing home to meet your future needs.

We also offer design services to prepare homes, condos and apartments for aging-in-place. Using specialized skills, we create living environments that integrate safety, comfort, and beauty. We implement design techniques that aid aging eyes, ears and arthritic hands, improve accessibility, prevent falls, and accommodate mobility devices like walkers and wheelchairs, within a home-like environment without looking institutional so that as needs arise, your home is ready.

We work closely with our clients to understand their specific needs and desires. We recommend aging-in-place home modifications, develop floor plans for remodeling, create furniture plans, help determine which furniture to keep, select and purchase any new furniture, artwork, window treatment, bedding or other home furnishings needed, coordinate deliveries, place furniture, hang artwork and window treatment, and create a warm, inviting, comfortable space.

You deserve the best, let us create that home of your dreams that will meet your needs as you inevitably age. Our goal is to make your life easier and beautiful.

Senior Transitioning

Illness, injury, death of a spouse, or simply the effects of aging can prompt a move into a senior living community or somewhere closer to family. Busy schedules, personal obligations, or distance make it challenging for family members to relocate their loved one. Often, family members don’t know where to begin or that simply hiring a mover or doing everything themselves isn’t the best solution.

55+ Plus TLC™ Interior Design provides an important service that family members, organizers or movers don’t have the expertise to do. Using specialized senior living interior design and aging-in place skills, we create living environments that integrate safety, comfort, and beauty within an independent or assisted living apartment to improve quality of life. We implement design techniques that aid aging eyes, ears and arthritic hands, improve accessibility, prevent falls, and accommodate mobility devices like walkers and wheelchairs, within a home-like environment without looking institutional-like.

With the utmost respect and understanding that change can be very difficult, we work closely with our clients to understand their specific needs, challenges and desires. We create a furniture plan for the new living space, help determine which furniture to bring, select and purchase new furniture, artwork, window treatment, bedding or other home furnishings needed, coordinate deliveries, place furniture, hang artwork and window treatment, and create a warm, comfortable space.

The common areas of senior living communities are designed to comply with codes for safety and accessibility. However, ensuring that your loved one’s apartment, within the community, is safe and suitable for aging is your responsibility. Hiring a qualified residential senior living interior designer or Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist is really the only way to achieve that.

Our senior living interior design and aging-in-place credentials and focus on 55+ enable us to help seniors transition and live safely while providing family members peace of mind. Our goal is to make life easier for seniors in an uplifting home environment as they age.
